SOA40VT: 1870s Fashion Dress
This lovely fashion ensemble is a 2 piece dress and perfect for an antique French fashion doll. The tunic or waistcoat features a wine colored velvet marbled pattern on silk. There is some minor wear to the raised portions or nap of thevelvet in some areas and colors are slightly deeper on theback. Hook and eye closrue. The sleeves are accented with antique ivory lace. The skirt is lined and features lovely tiers of hand pleats. Large ruched bustle in the back. One tiny pinhole in the back on the bustle and the skirt does show aging and some speckling and some staining here and there. I believe these things will launder clean, if you don't like the older, antique look. Hook and eye closure at the waist. The skirt measures 7" long in front and 7~1/2" long in the back, with a waist circumference of 9". The top has a sleeve length of 3" and measures 4~1/2" in front. The back measures 4~3/4" in back. The neckline is cut slightly wider, to highlight the shoulder plate of the fashion doll. Dating late 1870s-1880. The loops for the hooks in front are handmade and there are three which need to be made into loops again, to engage the hooks. A very sweet ensemble.
