SEO517: Baptism Certificate   Early baptism certificate. This is a beautiful antique certificate or commemoration of baptism. It is German and includes the original certificate folded inside. The certificate is in beautiful condition. The envelope is very elaborate with painted and gilded trim. I believe the picture on the front of the envelope is painted or enameled. When turned in the light, I can see brush strokes. I also do not see the fine little dots associated with lithographed images. Whatever the medium of the image, it is certainly stunning and retains original bright colors. Some wear to sage colored background near the top half of side (see photos). Accented with gold gilded embellishments . A beautiful image of an angel watching over an infant, who is sleeping on a bed of baby blue forget me nots. The envelope is 4~1/2" x 3~1/4". The paper certificate is 6~3/4" X 4". A charming piece of history. This would look beautiful framed in a small gilded antique frame and displayed in a child's nursery.
