DL0274: FRENCH Horn Buttons

These are antique French pressed horn buttons, each unique with the image of a woman. Each has a metal shank in the back. Some unmarked, some marked LGJ & F, dating these about the 1840s. We've learned that M. Juhel, horn buttons made in the city of Caen, suburb of La Maladrerie, where the workforce was largely prisoners from the nearby prison in Beaulieu. Overall condition is good, some with minor scratches or a chip to the outer rim. Largest measures 1~1/4" and the smallest about 1". Please allow us to select a style for you. These were acquired by a costumer/collector who accumulated the finest treasure trove of vintage and antique European lace, buttons, appliques and other embellishments over a 9 year period, while living in Holland. During this time, she was able to travel to various parts of Europe to find these beautiful antique and vintage items and trims.
