DL0291: Freshwater Pearls/Cream
Vintage old stock freshwater pearls on original 16" strand. Freshwater pearls are pearls from freshwater mussels. They are seldom perfectly round as the common cultured pearl, but have interesting irregular shapes. Like natural and other cultured pearls, freshwater pearls have beautiful color and luster. Freshwater pearls are noted for their wide range of color; they can be found in white, silvery white, pink, salmon, red, copper, bronze, brown, lavender, purple, green, blue, cream, and yellow. These are cream colored--and are small, making them ideal for earrings and necklaces for antique dolls. Sold by the strand, with approximately 60-67 or more individual pearls. These were acquired by a costumer/collector who accumulated the finest treasure trove of vintage and antique European lace, buttons, appliques and other embellishments over a 9 year period, while living in Holland. During this time, she was able to travel to various parts of Europe to find these beautiful antique and vintage items and trims.
