VC5830SO: "Alice in Wonderland"  This charming antique bisque shoulder head doll with cloth body has leather arms with individually stitched fingers and leather boots (one boot has been reinforced with antique leather at the tip. She has cloth legs. Her body appears to be original, as do her clothes, which include antique pantaloons with lace trim, lavish layers of antique petticoats, a crisp cotton stripe dress with an sweet antique eyelet trimmed pinafore. She has the so called Alice Hairdo with painted, molded ringlets in blonde, and a painted black hair ribbon. Untinted bisque with gorgeous hand painted blue eyes, a sweet painted closed mouth and rose blushed cheeks. Her modeling is exquisite--very deep and detailed. She stands 18" tall. She comes displayed as Alice in Wonderland. The antique Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass book accompanies her, as does her antique silver mirror or looking glass. The book has a colorful lithographed cover with gold gilded highlights. There is some soiling, some wear to the very edges, etc . Copyright 1898. It features a multitude of delightful lithographed color plates and wonderful black and white illustrations. There are a few pages which has slipped away from the original binding, but the book displays well with the doll and the whole vignette with Alice, the antique book and the antique looking glass make a splendid display! The doll is free from cracks, hairlines, etc.
