VC7816GC: Parian Glass Eyed Doll
A large and beautiful antique parian gentleman with glue glass eyes. Hand painted features such as upper and lower lashes, closed mouth, rose blushed cheeks, molded, painted hair. Excellent modeling, with deep detailing. Faint dark line just above one painted eyebrow looks like a firing flaw. Lovely detailed shoulderplate with gilding , molded and painted with tie. Some wear to gold gilding. Three sew holes. The three in front have been pinned to body. Original waistcoat is very fragile and melting. He was not undressed. Torso appears to be muslin and arms are kid leather with individually stitched fingers . Legs are very firmly stuffed. Legs do not bend at knees and have limited mobility at hips. He should be displayed standing. Costume appears to be original Wool coat and slacks. Antique socks and handmade shoes. He stands 22" tall. Possibly Kling or Simon and Halbig.
