VC8018SO: Rare Jumeau Depose 6
Fabulous Circa 1886-1889 Rare Jumeau Bebe Marked Depose 6 (litho blocks in pictures not included in sale of doll) This very rare (we've only seen 2 in our years selling French dolls since 1988) model is a French bebe made by Jumeau. Research and various reliable resources have dated this particular bebe as a series made between 1886 and 1889. We date her 1886-87 due to her early 8 ball body.Later examples have Tete type bodies. She is a transitional model made between the making of the EJ and the Tete. She has a flawless pale poured bisque head, a beautiful painted closed mouth with darker outlining of the primly set lips, dimple in chin and rose blushed cheeks. Her eyebrows have been expertly painted and her eye sockets have been painted with a black eyeliner appearance. She has lavishly painted lashes and red accent dots at the corners of her eyes and at her nostrils. She has intense and prominent piercing blue eyes which are a striking feature on this outstanding bebe. Original 8 ball antique body with early blue body stamp. Possible touch up inside index finger (see my photos), straight wrists, original body paint. She is a rare small size, measuring 14" tall. The back of her head is incised Depose 6 and she has the original artist's check marks. She wears antique earrings (I see no flakes) and her original spring inside her head is intact. Original cork pate. Original gorgeous full sandy blonde or light brown mohair wig with original waves and curls in excellent, full and fluffy condition. She wears antique underclothing, antique socks, her leather shoes are marked M.B. Paris. Antique dress of evergreen colored wool or challis with dropwaist styling and pleated skirt. The ruched scarlet silk accents at sleeves and dress front and back are vivid with no fading, although the silk is somewhat melting. Lace accented neckline and cuffs. Antique straw hat embellished with fabulous antique flowers of various colors. This sweet doll has been in our collection for decades. She has been packed away for 13 years and not displayed, so she is in superb condition. A very important and highly desirable bebe, particularly for someone who is interested in collecting all the models of Jumeau. A wonderful doll is lovely condition! Layaway is available.
