VC8023GCC: FG Block Bebe
This is an outstanding early block letter FG bebe. She dates circa 1870s and has her original 8 ball body is good glossy condition with typical MINOR wear to high points (finger tips, joints), Her hands are slightly cupped, which is also indicative of the early FG bebe. Very pale, early coloring , with cocoa colored glass paperweight eyes, painted upper and lower lashes and beautifully painted eyebrows. Rose blushed cheeks and a beautiful painted closed mouth with outlining details. Teeny earring flake on one pierced ear. Very faint nose rub, but it could just be the overall pale bisque. Small chip to rim of crown. She does have a darker color to her bisque along the top or her head, around the rim, which is caused by a reaction to the tannin in the original platinum colored antique skin wig. Antique or original cork. Dressed in a sleeveless dress or slip, accented with antique lace, etc. Antique jacket is accented with brass faux buttons in front, and silk covered buttons along the cuffs of her 3/4 sleeves. Her collar has three layers. I was unable to remove the jacket--the cuffs fit very snugly and I did not want to damage the silk buttons or jacket sleeves by pulling on it. Her body is in lovely condition, as mentioned above, She wears antique socks and shoes. She measures 14" tall. She is a fabulous French bebe.
