VC8024GCC: Early Bru Child
This is a rare early Bru child fashion doll poupée. She dates prior to the "Smiler Bru", circa 1870-1875. Her original kid leather body is in good condition with some patches here and there and a few seams have separated along edge of arms, etc. Please view all my photos and I have more, so don't hesitate to ask. Individually stitched fingers. Beautiful bisque head and shoulder plate. Swivel head. Lovely glass blue eyes, accented with expertly painted lashes, upper and lower. Pert, closed painted mouth. Pale blushing at cheeks. Delicately painted eyebrows. Pierced ears. Incised on the back of her head (D). Original cork pate with lovely strawberry handmade mohair wig, which appears to be a more recent addition. The child is believed to be dressed in original clothing, antique pantaloons and silver over dress in a divine pale powder blue silk (some wear to silk). Antique pink socks with rosy leather antique shoes. Shoes are fragile and retains one brass colored button. I did not remove the shoes, for fear of destroying them. This gorgeous and rare child doll measures approximately 13". Her rose colored straw hat is a lovely reproduction. An exquisite french fashion with flawless bisque and a sweet , serene expression.
