VC8029GC: 1880s Folk Doll
This outstanding antique cloth doll is a one of a kind New England folk art rag doll. She dates circa 1880s-1900. Her face has been beautifully hand painted and retains original painted features with a slight rub to upper eyebrow (HER right) and teeny rub on tip of chin. Rose blushed cheeks, cocoa colored large rounded painted eyes with painted highlights. Original cloth body and mitten like hand. Stitched at elbows, hips and knees, so she can be positioned in various poses, and can be seated, if desired. Firmly stuffed with no leaking. Body appears to be in good condition. Dressed in antique cotton underclothing, and cream colored fine cotton dress with lace collar and tucks at bodice. She wears a copper colored velvet jacket. She stands 15" tall.
