VC43S: Early Christening Gown  Superb in it's design and condition, this turn of the century cotton christening gown measures 40" long.Gathers cascade from the waistline to meet a multitude of small tucks at the hemline. There are a total of 16 beautiful tucks accenting the bottom of the gown. The neckline is accented with lace. The original ties at neck in back and at waistline in back can be cinched tighter for a more fitted look, or expanded to accommodate the child wearing it. The bodice is profusely decorated with eyelet. Several "ruffles" or panels of scalloped edge eyelet give a three dimensional appearance which is quite unique and lovely. Eyelet also accents the short sleeves. Late 19th century styling. Remarkable condition. Clean and white for use or display.
