VC1066SO: Grandma's Flower Garden

This beautiful "grandmother's flower garden" quilt with garden path dates circa 1930. The unique green garden path makes this quilt a desirable addition to any special quilt collection. It is beautifully pieced by hand and hand quilted. Fairly lightweight, with a thin batting. It was registered with the Washington State Heritage Organization in 1987. The registration number is 4-41. The quilt originates from Arkansas. It is 83 inches by 90 inches. Each piece is a hexagon and is 1~1/3 inches across. The border is green cut on the bias. Two sides are straight and the other two are zig zag. This has been HAND QUILTED. There are 7 stitches per inch, counting the top side only. Each piece is individually quilted. The quilt is in lovely condition. There is a very faint spot, as seen in one photo on the back and some areas in the back where I can see the colors of the fabric on the topside. I can't tell if these areas have bled into the back or , because the batting is fairly thin, it's a reflection of the pieced flower directly above. The binding looks good with no fraying and the quilt does not appear to have any worn areas. I've examined it multiple times, but the pattern is so busy and colorful, I may be missing something. In any event, it would not be easily seen, if there is wear. It's an extraordinary quilt which will highlight any quilt collection! Please note the toss pillows and china doll are not included in the sale. Please click here to view additional magnified photos and click on your BACK button in your browser to return to this page.
