VC394GC: Delightful Powder Box
This charming porcelain Hertwig powder box dates from the 1920s. The image is of a young woman in a powder wig, dressed in high fashion clothing. This piece has a great deal of detailing, including the fine pearl necklace which is slightly raised and is painted white. The piece separates at the skirt to reveal an open compartment where one can store trinkets or powder. Unmarked, but believed to be Hertwig. There is a teeny dot on the back of the skirt that looks like the paint was disturbed before firing--it just looks like a white dot about the size of a pinhead, but not damage--just made in the manufacturing process. The box measures 5" tall and is simply beautiful! Please click here to view additional magnified photos and click on your BACK button in your browser to return to this page.
