DL1042: Victorian Bodicenew

This beautiful Victorian silk bodice is all original and features outstanding beautiful fine black lace and exquisite handmade buttons. It has boned stays to keep it shape when worn. Original glazed cotton lining. Examining the front, it is possible the buttons were moved at one time to accommodate a larger bustline. I was told the lace was handmade, but have included close up photos. This would be ideal for display or used as a pattern for making costumes for theater or movie productions. There are stains on the lining. I have pictured these and please don't hesitate to email me for additional photos. Of course, these are not visible if the bodice is displayed on a mannequin. A teeny bit of wear to the high point of the sleeve seam on the outside shoulder.Original hooks and eyes. Four simple cloth covered buttons with some wear in front, with 4 elaborate buttons with beadwork, as well. Thinking maybe this was originally worn with a jabot, to hide the more simple buttons. Sleeve length is 21". 13~1/2" across the back, shoulder seam to shoulder seam. 25" measuring from top of collar in back, down the center back, to the pointed end of the lace in back. 17" measuring collar top to end of bodice front, NOT measuring lace trim along the bottom. 19" measuring underarm seam, across chest to other underarm seam. It is a very lovely bodice and looks very charming displayed on a dressform. The silk seems stable and could possibly worn as a costume. Please note, however, we do not accept returns on clothing items. I sell vintage and antique items with a history; oftentimes items may show wear from a former life. I always try to note any serious condition issues. Please contact me if you have additional questions regarding the condition of the item. Photos are considered part of the description.
