VC518GC: Mother of Pearl/HandPainted Fan  This is one of the most beautiful antique fans we've seen! Worthy of display in any fine collection of fans and vanity items. This fan dates from the 1850s to the 1870s period and is hand painted on silk. Colors are rich and vivid and the charming country scene is beautiful and intact. If there is any wear, it is hidden in the complex colors of the painted vignette. The frame features mother of pearl accented with carved designs which have been highlighted with gold paint. The original ornate braided brass hanging loop is intact. The condition is exquisite and excellent aside for a crack to the mother of pearl on the outer most slate or spoke of the fan. Lovely!
