VC1069SO: Party Dress/Rosettes!  I debated where to list this gorgeous party dress and decided, due to the abundance of ribbon rosette yardage, the Ribbon Page would be appropriate. This is a beautiful dress for displaying or an abundant resource for elegant trims and fabric. This is an absolutely drop dead gorgeous antique dress. This has been tucked away for decades and I paid a small fortune for it at the time. I had intended to part out the rosette trim, but could never bring myself to cut into this gorgeous costume. This is a beautiful dress for displaying or an abundant resource for elegant trims and fabric. The bodice is an ivory silk chiffon. The sash is a gorgeous old rose color and is silk, as is the matching skirt. Over the top of the skirt is a cascading over skirt of blue transparent silk chiffon with tiny pink rosebud print. The original label on the dress reads Madam Margot London. There is a massive cluster of silk and velvet pink and deep rose colored roses attached at the waist. (Fabulous to accent an antique hat!). And , of course,...the "Pièce de résistance"...the fabulous and elegant silk rosette YARDAGE! I have calculated there are approximately 28 total inches of rosette trim on the sleeves, and one full yard of the silk rosette trim which accents the front of the bodice and the back of the neck. A total of 64 inches of fine, silk ombre rosette flower trim in deep rose, amethyst and yellow, accented with ombre green ribbon leaves. The trim appears to be in excellent condition. The silk skirt in front does have an area of discoloration where some of the rose color has disappeared, but I would say, overall, the condition is lovely and the dress could be displayed. I cannot tell you the size of the dress, but the length is 52" in front and the waist is approximately 29", give or take a few inches. It is lovely displayed on a dressform, as we have pictured it. A great wealth of trims for doll costumers!
