Black "Raven Feather" Wreath

Wreath Materials:

  • Styrofoam donut shaped wreath available at craft stores. We used one measuring 12" across.
  • 1 package vintage Black Hackle Plumage.
  • Black spray paint
  • glue gun
  • festive wired ribbon (about 5 yards) and floral anchor pins
  • Painted and decorated wooden ghosts

  • WreathSpray paint the styrofoam wreath black and allow to dry.(photo 1.)

Apply black feathers to the side and front of wreath, a row at a time, continuing to place additional rows in front of the previously made rows of feathers. (see photo 2.)Wreath Some feathers are glued down for coverage, others can be pierced into the styrofoam to give a fluffy appearance. You will find these feathers are an excellent, deep black with a glossy sheen which resembles raven feathers (photo 3).

Add wired ribbon, twisting and swirling as you go. Secure with floral pins at strategic spots. Secure a bow made of the same ribbon, using 26 gauge wire to cinch the bow into a permanent bow shape. (see photos 4 and 5.). Embellish with painted wooden ghosts. Secure a metal floral pin in back and hang for the Halloween season!
