What a challenge! Cleaning the wax without dissolving it would be the trick... or dissolving
just enough of it without injuring the visuals. Among the common cleaners for
actually removing wax and sticky stuff is a gel handcleaner for mechanics, etc.
Goop or M30 from Dollar General Stores is a generic inexpensive package
of the same stuff. I tried it on an old candle that had collected dust and crud. I put some of
the gel on my fingers and wiped it into the dust, then wiped it off with a tissue. Worked fine
and smoothed the wax candle a bit too. For tiny flowers I would recommend the Q-Tip
and I would avoid hot water as that might deform the flowers or actually melt
them to nothing. A discrete test on the back of just one flower is a good idea.
