An Effective Formula for Cleaning Whites
Contributed by Christman

Christman's Formula:This comes from my sister in law who runs a small antique shop...

Mix in a container (I use a rubbermaid pail) to "Hottest" water available from tap; 1 Part Ivory Liquid 1 Part Woolite 2 Parts Biz Powder GOOD FOR WHITES ONLY....I soak overnight, or untill water is completely cool, (You'll have "Suds" for days!!) Rinse items untill water runs clear.... Gently "wring" out and "towel" or line dry. Large items such as table cloths and napkins which are STURDY I run through a rinse cycle in the washer.

Ironing is of course necessary, and "damp" ironing will give a "crisp" results without Starch, as Starch is so hard on old fabrics and attracts bugs !!

I have used this on all types of fabrics from silk to wool, includeing old lace. Especially good for Linen table cloths and napkins ("Holiday stains etc...). Process can be repeated with good results if 1st time doesn't completely work....and if stain is really stubborn, I then soak in a HOT water solution of week bleach..

Ten Parts water to One Bleach...this can go overnight, but I usually watch and remove once stain is gone.....

Hope this is of some use to someone out there...re-write/edit as necessary.... The results are wonderful...I have saved so many things that I thought were beyond use and ruined !! Happy soaking !!
